How do we heal? š”
Rewiring & Healing
I'll put it like this: Imagine your electricity goes out. You're scared of your own house. It's dark. You're a bit panicked. What do you do now?
You call your dad. You ask him to turn it back on.
And what does a good Father do? He comes over. He leads you through the dark. He shows you where the control panel is. He teaches you what each lever means.
He doesn't just come in and do it for you. He could, but then you wouldn't have the gift of confidence that comes from being His daughter. He believes in your ability, so He takes the time to teach you.
Next time your power goes out, you won't be afraid of the dark. You'll know how to access the light.
One way requires a real, deep and patient love. The other is kind of cheap and only requires some.
I was on a walk this week with a friend and we were talking about healing. What does it look like when God heals us?
If you've ever felt beaten up by the hum of anxiety or struggled to see your way out of a mental health related battle ā this is for you.
From where I sit today, I look back on past panic attacks and messy mental moments and see myself asking God for healing. I wanted it instantaneously.
That was 5 years ago.
I've spent the past two years in committed counseling. I've been to many counselors before but was flaky about it. This time has been different. It's been a slow, patient sifting through the dark - a rewiring of an electrical system, if you will.
I see now that the lack of instant healing was a display of rich love. If God had just turned on the lights and instantly lifted this burden, I would have never sat down with Him and sorted it all out.
I wouldn't know my way around the dark. I'd still be left unfamiliar with my God-given authority. I would have never learned how to get the light back.
This is the harder way. But His way is so much better.
There's a complex wiring to all of us. Ask Him where the switches are. He's kind enough to help us sort it all out - and show us the way around our own house.
You are loved. We are loved. Keep going!
