LET’S GET RICH

The words printed on the side of a dumpster stopped me in my tracks this week. (One of my favorite things about Charleston is the dumpsters. I am confident they are prophetic.)

This one read, “It takes more than money to make someone rich.”

How true.

My dad always says you have to spend money to make it.

So let’s get rich and spend every moment — in coffee shops, on our backs in the sun, lost in books and funny TikToks, with music turned all the way up and ice cream dripping down our faces. Let's give into joy, freedom, play, tears, “cheers!” Kiss more babies, spend time at bed sides, walk the beach, throw fun parties.

Let’s get rich with laughter, creative outbursts, weird interests, full journals, camera rolls, quiet moments, honest words, gentle mornings.

Let’s collect evidence of the miraculous, good memories, deep meaning, and curiosities. Let’s store our fortune in, family, friends, the gift of today.

Let’s fill the banks of heaven, grant more permission and compassion. Take better care of what matters in the end — which doesn’t relate to what we do but is nothing more than me and you.
