Noticing | Volume 10

Happy Wednesday! Long time no noticing! We’re back. Happy Day!

+ Ingredients for a reset

I was in Ohio, then South Bend, then Ohio some more, then Texas, and now I’m writing from Sunny, South Carolina. I was on the go for about a month and I needed a serious reset. I took the weekend to do just that, and it changed everything. This is your sign: clean out a drawer, scrub your house, do a load of laundry, light a candle, and clear your email. The weight this lifted off of me!! I am free. I wasn’t sad — I just needed to clean my room.

+ Fear and Luck

I came home from Texas to find a leak in my ceiling in a very hidden spot. I live in an 87-year-old house and have transoms above my closets. I store things I rarely use up there — like all my hats. I took them down before I went to Texas, and as I went to put them back, everything was soaked. AC leak. Okay Hm.

Yesterday morning (I am still recovering, omg), I woke up to the sound of a giant rat being killed in a trap underneath my bed. Horrifying. (!!!) In need of counseling.

I'm not sure if you’re interested in homeowner woes, but I was once so scared of these things happening. How do I handle them as a woman living far away from my family and alone? However, do not be afraid. Everything works out. People are always ready to help. Google typically knows what to do. Second, you are much more resilient than you think you are. As the day ended yesterday, I stood back and thought, “Hm, everything is handleable.” I feel more confident thanks to the leaks, the rats, and the fears conquered. A gift!

+ Advent is coming!

I am so excited about Blessed is She’s new Advent devotional! The cover alone is serving as my Christmas inspiration. I can’t wait to pray about hope.

+ Chic Toothbrush

I am impressed and inspired by Trask's new chic toothbrushes. I can’t wait to travel with them. My cosmetic bag feels complete.

+ The power of words and who came before

I am leaving tomorrow to go to Italy for three weeks. It feels pretty unbelievable. Last year, I took a few weeks to galavant around Europe before starting Migrate full out. I remember saying I wanted to build a company that allowed me to go to Europe for a month each year. When I said this, I didn’t think it would be possible. But alas, every word holds the power of a prayer. It all matters. On the eve of another trip, I am thinking of my great grandmother, who would go to Europe alone or with her girlfriends so often, or my parents, who told stories of carrying bags, plates, and fabric around Europe before I was born. I am thankful for all these seeds of discovery. I’m sure I wouldn’t be doing such a thing without their example and openness. I hope to lay another layer in this legacy of adventure, curiosity, and beauty.

+ My American Express

My Amex allows me to get tickets to Europe on points. I can’t hype this enough — start using a travel credit card! Earn 80,000 points here (often enough to get a roundtrip ticket to Europe!) Points! Points! Points!

+ Coldplay’s New Album

Chris Martin is my ultimate crush, and this album feels prophetic (but that’s a story for another time). Listen to this one.

+ Inspired by Ina

I have been listening to Ina Garten’s new memoir while working today and LOVING it! So inspired to savor life, take risks and try new things.

What are you noticing? Tell me in the comments!

Thinking of you!

Xx,

C
