Noticing | Vol 1

Hello! Is this blog on???

I’ve been inspired by the sharing of others, and in an effort to commit to my own creativity, I’m trying my hand at a new series! First, The Liveliness List will come back. I am determined. You can subscribe here. It’s one of my favorite things to write, share, and chat with you about. It hits inboxes on Fridays! You can also read old Liveliness Lists here.

I’ve always held such value in the art of noticing. A simple thing — the turning of our attention — that can change everything. When I was 16, I created a blog called Notice but then was too embarrassed to actually share my noticings (regretsss). At Migrate, we have a slack channel where we all share little pictures of things we’re noticing around us. It’s perspective sharing, inspiration, gratitude, and delight mixed in one.

This Wednesday here’s what I’m noticing:

+ Bag Charms

I love how people are adding accessories to their luxury bags. I can’t stop thinking about this TikTok from this girl who is describing how to “Jane Birkin-ify” her bag. The beads! The color! The effortless chaos!! I’m interested. I also have been really liking Clare V lately. I love how they do jewelry-like straps.

+ Slow Growth and Patience

Took a walk through the farmer’s market yesterday. The beauty, the act of growing something from the ground, the passion of the farmers! Things grow slowly but the slow things are best for us and often more beautiful. Taking this takeaway into work today.

+ These French Mary Janes

I’ve been seeing these Flabelus flats everywhere. Loving the colors. Mary Janes are back. Fab!!

+ Friendship

My friend Alyse came to visit yesterday. I haven’t seen her in three years. I met her 5 years ago when we happened to be on the same flight to our semester in Milan, Italy. We traveled everywhere together. Some of my most precious memories are spent with her — Floating on our backs in the open sea on the shore of Positano! Climbing the Swiss Alps! Adventuring through Sicily!

We first bonded over the fact that we spend summers in the same place — Northern Michigan. This commonality has made us lucky to see each other once in a while. We have been so out of touch that I didn’t even pick up on the fact that she lived in Sydney, Australia, this past year. (!!!) She quit her job in SF and moved to Sydney without an apartment or a job secured. The life she lived sounded so slow, beautiful, and in sync with nature, others, and herself. I’m inspired.

I’ve been thinking about our friendship and the way we could immediately pick up where we left off. I vividly remember her telling me that she spotted me journaling on the airplane and staked me out as a future friend. I remember being crunched into my airplane seat and thinking that I didn’t want anyone to see me. I felt vulnerable penning my deep thoughts about my adventure ahead on paper, but this vulnerability acted as a cue to the start of this beautiful friendship! There’s something there. Keep showing up.

+ Shorts from Abercrombie

I usually don’t like jean shorts. Too uncomfortable. However, I can’t stop wearing these. I sized up so they’re looser and that feels like freedom. Find them here.

+ New Luggage

I ordered a new carry on last night. I’ve been using the same one since my aforementioned Milanese adventures and it’s very tired. Felt like a treat and hope for more travel! Went with the classic Navy Away bag with a CML monogram, of course.

+ This Art Series

I recently discovered the artist Michael McGregor, and I am obsessed. He has this series of child-like doodles on fancy hotel stationary. It is complied into this coffee table book. I love.

+ Having a crush on decisions

I listened to a reel yesterday (and, of course, can’t find it anymore) about a girl explaining that she only says yes to things she has a crush on. I love this language!

+ Elin and Cooking

I’m reading my first Elin novel (The Five Star Weekend), and the way she describes food and hospitality is so … perfect? romantic? … to me. It has made me want to slow down enough to get good at cooking. Have any of you gone from being impatient with making food (me) to loving spending time in the kitchen? Do you have any tips?? This book is also reminding me of MomentsofJane — my new life goal. I can’t stop watching her.

+ Pink and Green

Seeing a lot of pink and green everywhere. Are the glory preppy era days coming back? I love it all.

+ Boxer Shorts

I love this trend. I love these from Amazon. I’m ordering!!

That’s all for now! What are you noticing? Feel free to comment!

Sending love!
