On Asking ❤️
Last night, my friend Molly arrived in Charleston for the summer.
There is so much story about who God is behind that statement.
In college, I craved a vibrant church community. I started praying that someone would be sent to my school to help us. I felt in my spirit that I was to specifically pray that it would be a girl from Texas A&M. I've never been to Texas A&M, and I didn't know a single person who went there - but I felt this sense in my soul, so I went with it.
A year of prayer later, Molly moved to Ohio from Texas A&M as a FOCUS missionary. We became fast friends, and it's felt like an anointed friendship. She helped start Bible studies and poured into students with encouragement, hospitality, and love. She transformed the community and, behind her, left a wake of revival.
Molly left Miami of Ohio when I did. I moved to Charleston, and she went on to Alabama - where she is still building a church community. We never thought we would get to do life together again.
When I moved here, I started to pray that someone would come to help us build community. It felt like a familiar prayer, but I didn't think to ask God to send my friend Molly because how would that even be possible?
Earlier this year, I was talking to Sister Margaret, who had been feeling similar things in her prayer. She told me she hoped that FOCUS would make its way to Charleston, and I told her I'd call my friend Molly - she was in FOCUS, I thought she could help.
The next day, Molly called me. She had news - FOCUS was coming to Charleston this summer. God was sending her back to me to build community.
On this Friday morning, I'm sitting in awe of how God uses our desires, always gives us His very best, and how much our community matters to Him.
Molly taught me always to say that I was Jesus' favorite. (LOL) I feel like that this morning.
You're His favorite too. What is He asking you to ask for?
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-12
Happy Friday!
Caroline
