Project #LikeLife: What do you like?

When I was in grade school, and people would ask me about my favorite color - I would freeze. I remember being very inconsistent with my answers. Sometimes it was pink, other times it was blue, occasionally purple. OR I would say whatever the girl next to me said. I remember being confused because I didn't seem to know what I liked and any answer I shared didn't suffice.

I used to hate when people asked me about my hobbies. I still struggle with it, but the main pain this question brought up was the fact that I didn't have an answer. I could give you a great answer if you asked how I liked to work, but I couldn't tell you how I liked to have fun. I didn't really know what I liked.

In learning to #likelife there is a first very essential and simple question to first answer:

What do I like?

It's a basic question to which you might assume you know the answer. But we often gloss over it without thought.

Digging into this simple question and learning the actual answers about myself has been incredibly healing. It helps me survive ā€“ knowing that there are things in this life I can call mine.

This week, I encourage you to take time to sit with yourself and answer this question. Take the time to figure it out. It's worthwhile work in knowing yourself. The answers equip us for those moments when liking life feels like a fight.

What do you like? Do you know what you like to do? Eat? Play? How do you like to pray? Workout? Talk to friends?

Answer honestly. Don't defer to what that girl online seems to like, whatever is trendy, what you've been taught to like, or even what worked for you last year. What sparks life in your soul right now?

If you don't know the answer, give yourself permission to find out. Meet yourself where you are and keep the list of answers you find handy.

Here are some prompts to help:
