Just Show Up
YOU ARE WORTH IT
THIS MONTH I'VE MADE ONE THING MY FOCUS: SHOWING UP FOR MYSELF & MY DREAMS.
Oftentimes I am crippled by a struggle for perfection. I don't even want to start something because of the fear that I won't do it right, finish it or be able to succeed at it. And wow, it can keep me from doing a lot. With this attitude, soon things are pushed off till tomorrow, then the next day, then the next year and dreams never get done. I don't think I'm alone in this.
In January, I found myself so sick of saying I wanted to do things and not doing them. For example, I was wishing to grow in certain skills, begin some routine, or chase that dream project. I was so exhausted from feeling like I was waiting for my life to begin. I was not seizing the days that were quite literally adding up to my life.
So I began digging deep. Underneath a fear of failure, was the idea that I wasn't worth investing in.
I held the idea that my dreams or goals were not worth chasing because other things (or distractions) were more worthy of my time. This was holding me back. I think this is a common thought for women. Claiming that other things are worth more of our energy, often provides an excuse. It can quickly be used to rationalize not taking leaps to transform ourselves and instead remain how we've always been. It becomes an easy way to excuse living in a comfort zone and refusing growth.
In order to pull myself out of this I'm working on adopting two mindsets:
One: Stop thinking that I would never make it when I haven't even tried. Great transformation happens from slow and steady progress.
Two: Show up for me. It may be difficult, but these days that are passing are turning into my life. If all of this is God-given, my own self and the blessing of my days is worth investing in. Show up, daily.
To make it a goal to just "show up" for myself and my dreams, it has killed my push for perfection. In declaring that simply showing up would be enough, it is. There is great freedom in this.
So I encourage you to ask yourself: What is holding you back? Do you believe in your own worth? Examine this.
What would your life look like if you lived like you were worth it?
Would your mornings look a lot different? Would you make it to the gym a few times a week? Would you be sleeping better? Reading that book you've always wanted to? Would you begin writing or creating something?
I think showing up for your life, dreams, ideas, and self is the first step in living life resurrected. This struggle, this risk in doing so, always leads to abundance. It enables us to serve ourselves so we can serve each other. Here, we can begin to achieve our potential.
To carry yourself like you are worth time, energy and effort - especially your own - would indicate living like a true daughter of the Lord. For, He is our true champion and He breathes life into us daily because He knows we are worth it, too.
What is being whispered in your heart? What are you feeling called to? Make some time for this, you are worth showing up for. Act like it.
IN FULL LIFE,
CAROLINE
