ON ANSWERED PRAYER
I've been looking around this week and noticing that a lot of answered prayers, little gifts, and dreams realized have snuck up on me. Like they have been absorbed into my normal. Noticing them helps me snap out of it. Thinking about what my little self would think does too.
This is what I have learned about answered prayers – grace is subtle and always working.
It has never hit me
Like a brick
Falling from the sky
It has never been akin to lighting
Or even remotely blinding
Grace has only ever snuck up on me
As a gift I could have missed — even traded in
Something that quietly arrived, required unboxing, felt occasionally scary, even like monotony …
These answered prayers never come as shockwaves
More like something falling into place
Or gentle invites —
Will you come closer? Will you know … I have heard you all along?
